The Florida Department of Children and Families provides a local-services search route for substance-use and mental health support. Use its official Get Help resources alongside a qualified professional’s advice. You do not need to select a private residential program to explore these routes.
Specify the region and assignment
Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, the Tampa Bay area, Orlando, Jacksonville and the Panhandle require different practical arrangements. Ask where the assigned person works, when they can attend and how travel and follow-up are handled. An office in one part of Florida does not establish local staffing throughout the state.
Questions for an intervention service
Confirm the practitioner, relevant qualifications, approach, preparation, clinical input, costs and follow-up if the person declines. Ask whether any proposed treatment referral carries a financial relationship. A planned intervention does not establish authority for compulsory assessment or transport.
Companions and care coordination
For sober companionship, define hours, boundaries, supervision and replacement arrangements. For concierge or case management, identify which appointments, records, travel and permitted communications will be coordinated. Ask who provides clinical care and who responds when needs change.
Seasonal residences and interstate care
When the person divides time between Florida and another state, plan support in the actual next location. Confirm professional authorization where relevant, accepted clinical handovers, medication questions with the prescriber and written costs. Do not assume an existing engagement automatically continues unchanged after relocation.
